Our MP Karl McCartney's career has been blighted by accusations of impropriety. He was investigated by Lincolnshire Police over whether he breached election spending rules and has been censured a number of times by the Judicial Conduct Investigation Office for self promotion as a JP in supposedly apolitical literature which is contrary to guidance that is intended to protect judicial independence and impartiality.

In July 2021, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards investigated him for failing to declare an interest in a company run by his brother. Business Insider said their investigation "revealed that he had made false declarations for more than a decade about his links to a family firm."

He is also a member of the "Common Sense Group" of MPs with links to the climate denying think tanks of Tufton Street who accused the National Trust of being 'woke' and was reprimanded for sending highly offensive and abusive letters to his staff.
