The Planning and Infrastructure Bill 2025 represents one of the most significant shifts in the English planning system for over a decade. GOVERNMENT SPENDING ANNOUNCEMENT ON CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE

The UK Government's investment in carbon capture and storage (CCS) has sparked controversy in the environmental world.  While there is a case for capturing CO₂ from industrial sites like cement plants, which could contribute to net zero goals, the majority of the Government's investment is planned for CCS on new fossil fuel and existing bioenergy plants (eg Drax) which increases net emissions.
